let's talk about books. (Uh, Finally?)

January has finished (what?! already??) and I have finished... 1.2.3.4. books. I don't know? Is that a good amount or a bit slow?? My Goodreads goal is 50 books. So... 4 books x 12 months = 48books. Ok, yeah. I'm on track. Here's a sort of rundown on what I read these holidays, well, second half of holidays since I was lazy and didn't really read at the end of December.

So, in December, just before Christmas, my last three books of the year were Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince and Clockwork Princess, all by Cassandra Clare.
And yes, I know this was like the 'side series' to the main Shadowhunter series, but I picked the Infernal Devices because.. ahem. well it was shorter.... 😅 But Oh My Gosh just the side series has gotten me addicted to Cassie Clare's books. I mean, some writers' novellas or additional series are often bad, or not as good as the main series but. It was as if it were a completely separate series and though I read the second series first, (hopefully) it probably doesn't spoil anything for the original Shadowhunters series. Sho guud ahhhhh!! It has compelled me to start City of Bones. A S A P.

By the way, I finished this series in less than ten days. :))

Ok! Moving On! I started the Legend series by Marie Lu back in late September 2017 and only started completing it 3 months later. So my book no. 1 for the year was Prodigy, the second book to the beautifully written series. Of course I finished it about two days later and continued on with the finale, Champion.
So for this story, I actually started reading to fill in the time between Warcross and Warcross 2. AKA, best book ever in 2017 (for me at least) So chose this because it was by the same author. I think Legend was pretty good, but I thought the whole dystopia-rebels-vs-government was sort of boring because for the past two years, that sort of genre has been really, really popular. I think Prodigy was my least favourite out of the three, just because it was kind of dull, as nothing super super exciting really happened in this second book so I found it hard to flip the page and continue on. But I am glad I did because, Wowee! Champion was absolutely amazing. It was really heart-clenching, intense, and heart-breaking. It was honestly just packed with emotion all the way through. Champion is probably the book that made me really cry the most I've ever cried for anything. (ahem other than piano practice when I was younger)
And you know when you're at the end of a series and you want more, more, more? Well I think Marie Lu finished this off really well. And I think it's because she wrote this with two perspectives and so I felt as if I really got to know the characters really well that I knew that they would be fine living their lives off the page.

Sarah. J Maas Marathon!!
I've already read the ACOTAR series before but had never ever read the Throne of Glass Series. So with such encouragement from my fellow SJM fan friends, I started the series last year and continued on with Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows after the Marie Lu books.
Gosh, I thought I read a lot of her books, but turns out I only read, what? two?! Ah well... I'm currently 3/4 the way through Empire of Storms so keep cheering for me! I lovvvve Sarah's books, I never get bored with any of them (I wonder why 😏) because they are ALWAYS very exciting and I was always page turning like crazy... Ya.
Did you know I had to hog pretty much the whole series for the holidays from the school library? Yep. That's how popular they are...

Whoo! So that was pretty much what happened on the holidays... and I have like uh.. seven books on my TBR list that are sitting on my bookshelf. ohhh noo! It was because I kept getting books, but I had to finish my big SJM books first, because they took priority this holiday, so yeah.

Tiff's Unusually Long To Be Read List:
1. Tower Of Dawn - SJ Maas
2. Rosemarked - Livia Blackburne
3. Foolish Hearts - Emma Mills
4. One of Us is Lying - Karen McManus
5. Renegades - Marissa Meyer
6. A Conspiracy of Stars - Olivia Cole
7. City of Bones - Cassandra Clare

let's see how I go..
